Strategic Direction and Thematic Focus Areas
The PHIT Strategic Plan 2025–2029 reflects a renewed commitment to positioning PHIT as a national leader and regional knowledge hub. While PHIT will continue focusing primarily on Tanzanian women and youth, it will share models and practices with regional peers through cross-border partnerships, regional dialogues, and joint programming.
Thematic Pillar | Strategic Focus |
1. Education and Learning Transformation | Expand access to quality education, digital literacy, soft skills, and leadership pathways for youth and women. |
2. Economic Empowerment and Financial Inclusion | Promote entrepreneurship, access to finance, savings groups, and capacity-building for sustainable income generation. |
3. Environmental Sustainability and Climate Action | Empower communities with climate resilience skills, clean energy solutions, and environmental education. |
4. Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) | Embed gender equity, disability inclusion, and human rights in all programs and partnerships. |
5. Faith, Identity, and Cultural Empowerment | Foster interfaith harmony, celebrate cultural identity, and cultivate values-based leadership. |
6. Health and Wellbeing | Promote menstrual hygiene, mental health, nutrition awareness, and accessible health services for youth and women. |
7. Digital Engagement and Advocacy | Leverage storytelling, social media, and digital platforms to mobilize support, influence policy, and scale impact. |
Phased Thematic Focus (2025–2029)
To ensure focused delivery and optimal resource use, PHIT will implement the seven thematic pillars in a phased manner. This approach allows for deep investment in foundational areas first, while gradually expanding to address broader systemic needs.
Year(s) | Primary Focus Areas | Supporting Areas |
2025 – 2026 | Education and Learning Transformation, Economic Empowerment, Health and Wellbeing
2027 | Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), Environmental Sustainability
2028 – 2029 | Faith, Identity and Cultural Empowerment, Digital Engagement and Advocacy |
This phased implementation ensures stronger capacity, greater community ownership, and more measurable outcomes. The pillars remain integrated throughout the plan but will be prioritized according to resource availability, stakeholder demand, and strategic entry points.
